Epilogue: the cigarette after is a feminist interpretation of the myth Leda and the swan, which has been used in art history since decades to aestheticise and romanticise the appropriation of the female* body. The female subject is not passive, but self-aware and ambiguous, occupying the scene and her own sexuality with agency. The work serves as a reclamation of art-historical tropes, asking how we might finally rewrite the power dynamics we’ve inherited.
